Are you looking to start an adventure of your own as you set out on a quest to gather some of the greatest Tattoo Designs? Well, worry not.

It's dangerous to go alone, so take our knowledge with you as we gift you some of the greatest ‘The Legend of Zelda Tattoos’ the world has to offer.

What Is The Legend Of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda is an action-adventure game franchise created by the legendary Japanese game designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, who together have produced other known worldwide franchises such as Mario, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and much more.

The Legend of Zelda series itself was inspired by Miyamotos "explorations" as a young boy in the hillsides, forests, and caves surrounding his childhood home in Sonobe, Japan.

The story and setting of The Legend of Zelda was created by Takashi Tezuka, who was looking to create a fairytale adventure game inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.

The story almost always revolves around the adventures of Link, a member of the Hylian race who is reincarnated across various time periods, and the magical Princess Zelda as they battle the Evil Ganon/Ganondorf, who threatens to rule over all of Hyrule.

The first ‘The Legend of Zelda’ game was released on February 21, 1986, and since then has gone on to release over 20 main entries and several spin-offs, with total sales for the series estimated to be over 125 million copies worldwide.

The Legend Of Zelda Tattoo Designs

Now that we know a little about The Legend of Zelda let’s take a look at some of the best Zelda Tattoos from over the internet.

1. The Hero of Time Tattoo

The Hero of Time is the title given to the incarnation of Link from Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.

This version of Link begins his journey as a child in the Kokiri Forest and later awakens after a seven-year slumber as an adult to finally vanquish the Evil that now rules over Hyrule.

2. Princess Zelda Tattoo

Princess Zelda is the secondary protagonist of The Legend of Zelda series.

She has appeared in all but three games and is set to star as the main protagonist for the first time in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Zelda is the mortal incarnation of the Goddess Hylia, who sends and aids Link on his adventures to defeat Ganon.

3. Ganondorf Tattoo

Ganondorf is the main antagonist of The Legend of Zelda series.

King of a tribe known as the Gerudo, he is a powerful Warlock who wishes to acquire the Tri-Force and reshape Hyrule to suit his desires.

While never explicitly stated, it is believed that Ganondorf is some form of curse/reincarnation of the demon Demise.

4. Viking Style Zelda Tattoo

For something a little more unique with our Zelda Tattoo, check out this super cool Viking/Celtic inspired Link.

This piece is of Link from Majora’s Mask rocking his Mirror Shield and is being closely followed by Tatl with Skull Kid in his normal form at the bottom.

5. Shadow Beast Tattoo

The Shadow Beasts are members of the Twili, a race that inhabits a world known as the Twilight Realm.

Having been corrupted and transformed by the false King of the Twili, Zant.

If a Shadow Beast remains undefeated, it will let out a roar that revives others around it making it paramount to defeat the remaining two at the same time.

6. Pixel Link

For those of you who love a more retro look, try out this sprite pixel-style Link Tattoo.

The Legend of Zelda series includes three 8-bit pixel sprite games: The Legend of Zelda (1986), Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (1987), and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (original and DX).

There is one 16-bit sprite game, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991), and three 32-bit sprite games on the Game Boy Color: Link's Awakening DX, Oracle of Seasons, and Oracle of Ages."

7. Blupee Tattoo

Blupees are mysterious glowing rabbit-like creatures that first appeared during The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game.

When struck, these creatures drop rupees for Link to collect, and once hit or chased for long enough, they will disappear.

8. Ganon

Ganon, unlike his human form, is the malevolent being's true form.

While his depictions vary across games, he is almost always in the shape of a boar-like demon.

This Ganon is from the Link to the Past, where Ganondorf discovered the lost knowledge of how to enter the Sacred Realm and, when laying his hands upon the Tri-Force, was transformed into the Boar Demon we know today.

9. Majora’s Mask Tattoo (Game)

Majora’s Mask is the sequel to the 1998 classic Ocarina of Time and the second 3D Zelda game in the franchise.

Set months after the events of Ocarina of Time, Link, while on a quest to find Navi, enters the land of Termina, where he enters a 3-day cycle preventing the Moon from crashing into Clock Town and destroying the world.

10. Majora’s Mask Tattoo

The titular Majora’s Mask is an ancient, powerful artifact used by an ancient tribe for its bewitching rituals.

It was taken from the Happy Mask Salesman and worn by Skull Kid, who became possessed by its influence.

After its defeat at the hands of the Hero of Time, the Happy Mask Salesman tells Link that evil inside the Mask has disappeared for good.

I chose this cute Majora's Mask because you've probably seen more than enough of the standard version.

11. Cat Link Tattoo

If you love Cat Tattoos, check out this adorable Cat Link.

This cute little design has a cat dressed in Link’s traditional attire, along with the Master Sword and its very own fairy guardian.

12. Kass Tattoo

Kass, a member of the Rito tribe, is a minstrel who travels across Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule in search of the ‘Ancient Songs’ and to fulfill the final wish of his mentor.

Kass's mentor was a Sheikah who formerly served the Royal Family of Hyrule and fell in love with Princess Zelda.

While jealous of Zelda’s feelings for her chosen Knight Link, his opinion changed following the Calamity.

He wrote the songs to be passed down through Kass, believing Link would return to defeat Calamity Ganon once and for all.

13. Goron Tattoo

The Gorons are a species of humanoid rock people who live in the Hyrule Mountains and several other countries.

Goron sizes vary, ranging from medium to tall to gigantic, with the largest known Goron in the series being Biggoron.

In Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Gorons have families, but only brothers, fathers, sons, etc.

No female Gorons appear, further denying speculations that female Gorons exist.

14. Link’s Awakening Tattoo (Game) Tattoo

The Legend of Zelda, Link’s Awakening, was the first Zelda game developed for handheld consoles.

One of the few games not to take place in Hyrule, instead Link’s Awakening takes place in the land of Koholint Island.

Here Link must fight in order to wake the ‘Wind Fish’ if he ever wishes to leave the island and return home.

15. Hero Of The Wild (TOTK) Tattoo

The Hero of the Wild is a name given to Link from Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Following the defeat of Calamity Ganon, The Hero of the Wild and Zelda head beneath Hyrule Castle only to find the source of Hyrule’s corruption, Ganondorf himself.

Easily defeated, Zelda falls into the abyss, while Link loses his arm.

Link is saved by a mysterious figure and awakens high above the land of Hyrule on the Great Sky Island.

Now, he must set out on a quest to find Zelda and defeat the evil Ganondorf.

16. Sidon And Mipha Tattoo

Sidon and Mipha are the prince and princess of the Zora Kingdom in the open-world series of Zelda Games.

Mipha, one of the chosen champions, faced off against Waterblight Ganon only to lose her life and her divine beast corrupted by Ganon’s malice.

Sidon, still only a child at the time of her death, awaits Link after his 100 years of recovery, helping him board the Divine Beast Vah Ruta and eventually battles alongside Link against Ganondorf.

17. Fierce Deity Tattoo

The Fierce Deity is a mysterious person into whom Link can transform with the help of the Fierce Deity’s Mask.

The Hero of Time can obtain the Mask by trading all 20 non-transformation masks with the four Moon Children.

As the Fierce Deity, Link resembles his adult form but with different clothes, white eyes, and white hair, and also gains significantly greater strength and range in his attacks.

18. Hylian Shield Tattoo

One of the most iconic images of The Legend of Zelda franchise is the Hylian Shield.

The shield is the traditional Shield borne by the Knights of Hyrule and often used by Link in his adventures.

On the shield is the symbol of the Triforce, a red Hylian Crest representing the goddess Hylia and the Crimson Loftwing that helped Link at the founding of Hyrule.

19. Korok Tattoo

Koroks might fill some people with absolute dread, particularly those who took the time to collect all of them from either Breath of the Wild (like I did) or Tears of the Kingdom (not a chance), but I think it’s undeniable that they are one of the cutest designs in the series.

Koroks are small wooden people who live in the Korok forest, watched over by the Great Deku Tree.

The Koroks are the transformed versions of the Kokiri following the Great Flood.

20. Skull Kid Tattoo

Skull Kids, according to Navi, are the children who wandered into the Lost Woods.

A Skull Kid becomes one of the main characters of Majora’s Mask, having come under the influence of the titular mask, which he stole from the Happy Mask Salesman.

The Skull Kid wreaks havoc on the land of Termina, ultimately attempting to destroy it by sending the Moon on a collision course with the land.

21. Heart Container Tattoo

The Heart Container is a recurring item in The Legend of Zelda franchise.

Upon collection, it grants Link an increased Life Gauge.

Heart containers appear as either full containers that immediately increase Link's vitality or pieces of heart that need to be collected to form a full container.

22. Light Dragon Tattoo

This White Dragon Tattoo is one of the most iconic images of Tears of the Kingdom, The Light Dragon.

The Light Dragon is one of the four Dragons who flies across Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom.

Unlike the other three Dragons, The Light Dragon doesn’t alter the weather or defend itself when Link approaches and contains a special item when you finally reach it.

23. Hero Of Winds Tattoo

The Hero of Winds is the name given to Link from The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker and Phantom Hourglass.

Another Toon Link stars as the protagonist of The Legend of Zelda: Spirt Tracks, known as the Hero of Trains.

This Zelda Tattoo features The Hero of Winds sailing with the King of Red Lions, a talking sailboat that Link meets after he is tossed out into the Great Sea.

24. Pokemon X Zelda Tattoo

If you love Pokemon as well as Zelda, then you will love this Zelda X Pokemon Tattoo.

Here we have an Eevee in its shiny form dressed up as Link, along with its Pokemon Shield and Ditto, which has taken the form of a fairy.

25. Wolf Link Tattoo

This Wolf Tattoo is of Wolf Link. In Twilight Princess, Midna explains that the Wolf is a divine beast that's long been believed to free the Twili. Link transformed into his Wolf form due to the effects of Twilight on Hyrule.

Link only survives being transformed into a helpless spirit due to the power of the Triforce protecting him.

26. The Hero’s Shade Tattoo

The Hero’s Shade, also known as the Hero’s Spirit, is a skeletal specter known as a Stalfos who can assume the form of the White Wolf.

The Hero’s Shade is actually the spirit of The Hero of Time.

Having been sent back into the past, undoing the events of Ocarina of Time, The Hero of Time lamented the fact that he was not remembered as a hero and never had the chance to pass on his knowledge to further generations.

Being in a Stalfos form, it is theorized the Hero of Time died trying to return to his home of the Lost Woods.

27. Epona Tattoo

Epona is a recurring character and trusty steed to various incarnations of Link.

She first appears in Ocarina of Time as a foal with a wild and untamed personality.

After learning Epona’s song, Link is able to approach her.

After Link’s seven-year sleep, during which he becomes an adult, Link wins Epona from Ingo, and she becomes his steed.

28. King Of Evil Tattoo

Using the power of the secret stone, Ganondorf transforms into his true self before his battle against The Hero of the Wild.

In this form, Ganondorf has a striking resemblance to that of Demise having a fiery red mane and towering stature.

Despite his overwhelming strength, Ganondorf is still bested by Link before he makes a last desperate attempt for victory.

29. Demon Dragon Tattoo

Defeated by Link, Ganondorf rips the secret stone from his headpiece, devouring it.

Now transformed into a massive Dragon, he grabs Link within his jaws and flies Hyrule’s skies.

The Light Dragon confronts the Demon King’s dranconified form, freeing Link, who then team up to finish him off for good.

30. Manga Link Tattoo

If you love Anime Tattoos then try out this super cool Anime Link Tattoo.

There have been a number of manga-related materials related to The Legend of Zelda series created in Japan.

The majority of these manga are Japanese only, with no official translations in any language being developed.

31. Cyclos Tattoo

This Animal Tattoo is of Cyclos, the once kind and wise younger brother of Wind God Zephos.

Once his monument was destroyed, he dedicated his life to using his control over cyclones to wreak havoc on all who encountered him.

Hitting Cyclos with three arrows defeats him, allowing Link to use his powers.

32. Midna Tattoo

Before the events of Twilight Princess, Zant overthrew Princess Midna and cursed her into an Imp-like form, preventing her from using the magical powers that are granted to the leader of the Twili.

Midna aids The Hero of Twilight throughout the game in their attempts to overthrow Zant and return Midna to her rightful place.

33. Twilight Princess Tattoo

Midna, also known as the Twilight Princess, is a member of the Twili, a race that was banished to an alternate dimension after the interloper war.

Initially appearing as an Imp, when Zelda sacrifices herself and transfers her light essence to Midna, she is able from then on to take her physical form.

Breath of the Wild (the first Zelda game I’ve played), released March 3, 2017, is the first game where you play the role of The Hero of the Wild.

Set 100 years after an event known as the Great Calamity, Link reawakens from his slumber after succumbing to the wounds he sustained trying to aid Princess Zelda’s escape from the forces of Calamity Ganon.

Now healed, Link must free the spirits of his fallen comrades, put an end to Calamity Ganon, and save the Princess Zelda holding him at bay.

35. Fi Tattoo

Fi is a spirit who dwells within the Goddess Sword, later the Master Sword, who accompanies the Hero of the Sky on his quest to prevent the resurrection of the Demon King Demise.

Upon the defeat of Demise, Fi requests to end her relationship with Link, returning to the Sword, but not before expressing her first true emotions, saying that their time together was most precious as she had experienced happiness before returning to her slumber.

36. Hero Of The Sky Tattoo

The Hero of the Sky is the name given to the earliest known incarnation of Link, who was born in Skyloft, a floating set of Islands high above the land of Hyrule.

Link initially makes it his mission to save his childhood friend Zelda from the clutches of Ghirahim before ultimately needing to do battle and defeat the Demon Demise.

37. Koume Tattoo

Koume, tattooed here, and her sister Kotake are two witch sisters who are the surrogate parents of the demon King Ganondorf.

After their defeat at the hands of the Hero of Time, they both bicker with each other over who is the younger sister as their souls fade away vowing to return.

38. Navi Tattoo

Hey, Listen! If you love Fairy Tattoos, then there can be no better choice than Navi from Ocarina of Time.

Navi was the fairy given to Link by the Great Deku Tree to aid him in his quest to save Hyrule.

The frequency with which Navi stops Link to explain stuff has become an internet meme of sorts, with many disliking her due to her constant unsolicited advice and the yelling of "Hey!" and "Listen!"

39. Master Sword Tattoo

The Master Sword, or Sword that Seals the Darkness, is the trademark weapon used at some point by every incarnation of Link.

Originally crafted as the Goddess Sword, it was reforged by the Chosen Hero and Fi into the Master Sword.

Although not always, it is usually the only weapon capable of defeating Ganon.

40. Hestu Tattoo

Hestu is a giant Korok musician who can use the power within his maracas to expand links weapon, bow, and shield inventory stash in the Breath of the Wild series of games.

Link is the first person to see Hestu in over 100 years, so asks Link to aid him in recovering his stolen maracas from some Bokoblins.

41. Cute Link Tattoo

For something a little cuter, why not try out this adorable cute Link Tattoo?

This Zelda Tattoo is done by inked_overeasy, who does a ton of Video Game Tattoos, Anime Tattoos, and much more in cute stylized versions, so be sure to check them out.

42. Zelda X Dark Souls Tattoo

For our Dark Souls Tattoo aficionados, check out this super cool Dark Souls X Zelda Tattoo.

In this design, the Master Sword rests in the bonfire, an iconic checkpoint in the Dark Souls series of games.

43. Ocarina Tattoo

The Ocarina of Time is a musical wind instrument that Link uses to play music, which can perform magic in The Legend of Zelda series.

The Ocarina of Time was an instrument secretly passed down from generation to generation within the Royal family to keep it safe from those who would exploit its power to cause harm.

44. Deku Tree Tattoo

The Great Deku Tree is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.

The Deku Tree is the guardian of the forest that he protects, as well as those who live within it.

At the beginning of Ocarina of Time, the Deku Tree is cursed by Ganondorf,  who asks The Hero of Time to destroy the root of the problem.

After Link succeeds, the Great Deku Tree passes away, but not before informing Link of his duty to save Hyrule, starting the events of the game.

45. Impa Tattoo

While you may think that this is Paya from Breath of Wild or Tears of the Kingdom, it is, in fact, a young Impa from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

Young Impa has an almost identical look to her granddaughter, who Link first meets while she is being chased by a hoard of Bokoblins as she tries to protect the Sheikah slate.

46. Divine Beasts Tattoo

This Zelda Tattoo is of the divine beasts, the four titanic mechanical animals built by the ancient Sheikah to aid in the battle against Calamity Ganon.

10,000 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, the divine beasts helped suppress Calamity Ganon, but in the 100 years before Link faces off against Ganon, the machines were corrupted and Champions killed.

Now Link, having recovered from his wounds, must fight the corruption infecting the machines, save the souls of the champions trapped within, and put an end to Calamity Ganon once and for all.

47. Hyrule And Lorule

Lorule is the dark and inverted variation of Hyrule that can be accessed through fissures created by the Dark Sorcerer Yuga.

Lorule was almost destroyed following the destruction of their version of the Triforce.

However, by the end of the events of A Link Between Worlds, Link, and Zelda use the power of Hyrules Triforce to restore the Lorulian version, bringing glory back to the Kingdom.

48. Ganon (Ocarina Of Time)

Following the defeat of his human form, Ganon attempts to crush both Link and Zelda under the crumbling ruins of Hyrule Castle.

After the pair escape, a furious Ganon activates his Triforce of Power, transforming into a giant bi-pedal boar-like Demon wielding two giant swords.

Eventually, Link requires the Master Sword, which had been knocked from his grasp, and ends Ganon a sword strike through the Skull.

49. Link And Ruto

Possibly the cutest Zelda Tattoo we have today, this adorable design is of Link carrying Princess Ruto on his back as they try to escape Lord Jabu Jabu’s belly.

Initially a selfish and impulsive child, Princess Ruto grows up to be more benevolent as an adult after learning of her destiny as the Sage of Water.

50. Decayed Master Sword

The decayed Master Sword is another iconic image from the latest Zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom.

Having found Ganondorf beneath Hyrule Castle, the Demon King awakens, destroying the Master Sword with his overwhelming power.

Not long after Link is rescued by a mysterious figure, the Master Sword mysteriously disappears to be restored to even greater strengths.

I’m still disappointed you didn’t actually get to keep the decayed Master Sword and use that to fuse with materials during your journey, building it back to greater strength as you progress through the story.

51. Link X Kirby Tattoo

Possibly more accurately, a Kirby Tattoo, Kirby has the powers to suck up his enemies or friends into his mouth and copy their powers.

Upon sucking up an enemy with a sword, Kirby will gain the ability to use that sword and mysteriously also gains a long green cap similar to that of Link.

However, in the Super Smash Brothers games, there is no mistaking that it is, in fact, Link’s powers, as Kirby acquires them when sucking up Link.

52. Skulltula Tattoo

Fan of both Spider Tattoos and Zelda Tattoos, why not fuse your love of the two and get yourself a Skulltula Tattoo?

Skulltulas are recurring enemies within The Legend of Zelda series of games.

While its shell is hard as a rock, its soft belly is its weakness.

Where To Get Your Legend Of Zelda Tattoo

Design is one thing, but you also need to consider where the best place is to get yur Zelda Tattoo. So, let’s take a look at some of the best places you can get your potential new ink.

1. Zelda Tattoo On Wrist

Wrist Tattoos are both a delicate and elegant choice for your Zelda Tattoo.

Keep in mind that the wrist is going to a painful place to get tattooed, but it looks amazing when finished.

This super cool Zelda Tattoo is one of the Breath of the Wild Guardian’s done in its tapestry art styles.

2. Forearm Zelda Tattoo

Forearm Tattoos are a great location choice if you’re looking to show off your chosen design as often as possible, but unlike the wrist, isn’t as painful.

This Link Tattoo is of The Hero of Legend, the star of The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past tattooed here, as well as The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

3. Leg Legend Of Zelda Tattoo

Legs are another great place to get your Zelda Tattoo if you’re looking for a less painful experience.

Areas such as the calf and thigh are the least painful, but remember that areas such as the knee and back of the knee or directly on the shin can be rather painful.

4. Legend Of Zelda Tattoo On Back

The back is one of the best places to get large and expansive tattoos.

This area offers a lot of space on a relatively flat plane, allowing for large, highly detailed pieces.

This Zelda Tattoo is of the Crest of the Skeikah, also known as the Sheikah eye.

The symbol has an eye wide open, symbolizing the seeking of the truth, with a teardrop to represent the tribe's willingness to go to any lengths to achieve their goals.

5. Legend Of Zelda Tattoo On Chest

Lastly, chest tattoos are the best choice if you’re looking to show off your Zelda Tattoo with pride.

For men, the chest offers a lot of space on the chest, while for women, they may need a design that can complement the anatomy of the breast.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, the flow of time is always cruel, and we have now run out of it as we come to the end of our Zelda Tattoo list.
